Biography

Jan Couwenhoven was a son of Gerrit Janse Couwenhoven 1676 VanCouwenhoven-23 and Aeltje Van Wyck 1679. Jan was named in his father's will dated Apr 16, 1711.

Jan Couwenhoven was twice married, first Marytje Gabrielse Sprong about 1721, second wife Maria Cozine after 1750. [1]

In his will, dated Feb 1, 1753 and proved Aug 17, 1761; John Covenhoven, of Bushwick, carpenter, mentioned his wife Marytje and "the children of my first and second wife." nine in number, and named as his executors his brother-in-law Cornelius Cozine, Gerret Cozine, and his cousin Gabriel Duryea. The witnesses were Gabriel Strong, Abraham Van Ende, and Abraham Schenck. [2]
